When Should You Take DAO? Timing Your Histamine Digest® for Best Support
The General Guideline: Before Meals and Beverages
OmneDiem® recommends taking Histamine Digest® prior to or when you are about to consume high-histamine foods and beverages.* The designed-release capsule is formulated to bypass the stomach and activate in the small intestine, which is where dietary histamine is absorbed and where DAO enzyme activity is most relevant.* Published data on DAOgest® suggests that DAO promotes histamine breakdown within approximately 20 minutes of intake.*
As a practical guide:
- Take 1 capsule before meals that include high-histamine foods such as aged cheese, cured meats, fermented foods, vinegar-based dressings, leftover proteins, or canned and smoked fish.*

- Take 1–2 capsules if consuming a meal high in both histamine-rich and histamine-liberating foods, or if you are consuming a larger volume of high-histamine items than usual.*
